“The schools we go to are reflections of the society that created them. ... Nobody is going to teach you your true history, teach you your true heroes, if they know that that knowledge will help set you free.” ― Assata Shakur, “Assata: An Autobiography”

Normally I don't call for teachers to be fired. But, these teachers should be fired. And the principal needs to go too. They all have No business being around kids.

Nothing angers non-Black ppl like a Black person who doesn’t gaf about them or their opinions. If Black woman/Metro employee had apologized for eating on train/packed up meal, Natasha “Snitch” Tynes wouldn’t have tagged WMATA for breaking rule. It was never about eating on train.

I see others made this point but it bears repeating. Because some of y’all are so legalistic 🙄 and being obtuse. Natasha Tynes snitched not because a Black woman was eating on Metro—she snitched bc Black woman told her “worry about yourself.” (iow: eff off & mind your business!)

"People of color" like Natasha Tynes is the reason why I make it a point to directly name Black people within the spectrum, because there is anti-Blackness within people of color in totality. POC solidarity is often upheld by Black people, but not maintained by others within.

In 2016, a Black teen girl was arrested & assaulted by Metro Transit Police for entering a train station w a lollipop. Natasha Tynes' harassment of a Black woman eating is backed by both the risk of losing her livelihood & a real threat of state violence.

  9. Just got caught up on the Natasha Tynes situation. I am amused that people are worried about her career, but not the blue collar worker she aimed to take down.

And just that fast, the Young Scholar™️ has completed his first year of college: ✅🙏🏾 Blessedly, he had a good year! 🙌🏾📚❤️ This summer will be interesting. Learning to parent an adult is a work in progress. Thankfully he’s patient—and gently checks me when I overreach. 👀🙈 lol

Many California families apply to receive subsidized child care. But the slots are limited and the wait can last for years. Between her two younger children, Jacquelyne Gettone has been waiting for MORE THAN A DECADE. via

Today in a rapidly gentrifying Seattle neighborhoods, I spoke to some white folks who heard gunshots and cries for help but stayed at a bar patio to drink. Blocks away, I witnessed a largely black community mourning the loss of a young man in that shooting
