In short, don’t confuse the symptom for the disease. And worth noting many very regularly shaped districts can be drawn that way with vast ill partisan intent. In much of the country, extreme compactness favors Republicans. 4/

In short, don’t confuse the symptom and the disease. Oddly shaped districts probably merit a closer look, just like getting up at night to use the bathroom may be a symptom that you have diabetes. But in both cases, it isn’t the end of the inquiry. 5/
