Redistricting & voting counsel at @brennancenter at @NYUlaw. Opinions mine. Usual caveats about retweets. From TX, so lots of tweets about the Lone Star State.

There were 25 reported COVID deaths in New York State and 46 in Texas yesterday - the first time Texas deaths have exceeded NYS.

Man, Michael I am so anxious about back home. No one is taking this seriously. No leadership at the top. Lot of local officials helpless to do anything due to Abbott’s orders.

Interesting but remember TX is now considerably larger than NYS

About 50% more people. And a lot of the most vulnerable in New York are already dead thanks to Cuomo's nursing home policies. They can't die twice. But it's going to be interesting to see the impact of the breakdown of social distancing in NY in a few weeks.

Happy for New York but scared as hell for my state of Texas - especially since we have a useless governor @GovAbbott and not the amazing @NYGovCuomo .

Won’t be the last. Yes Texas has 50% more people, but it didn’t have 3 million travelers coming in through DFW from Europe after the virus was circulating there nor a city with the density of NYC.

GOP needs to be careful. I know a lot of suburban white women who are MAD AS HELL their kids’ weddings are getting canceled and they can’t go see grand babies and they know why. Def 1st world problems but they each get a vote too. And it’s not gonna be for any GOPer right now.
