programming books that are more than a decade old are either: A) useless or B) timeless there is no middle ground

* more generally, any "Learn $LANG vX" where X is > 1 revision old
timeless:
* Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs
* Cormen, Leiserson, and Rivest
* Norvig & Russell

i should note that the useless ones were not useless in their time! i learned many useful things from those books. but there is no reason for anyone to read those books now, because of newer, more relevant books on the same topic
