I couldn’t code 18 months ago. Yesterday I raised over $20,000 from initial customers to get my software business off the ground. Believe in yourself, be relentlessly resourceful, be relentlessly optimistic, and never give up.

OpenAI has got to have one of the highest talent densities of any organization ever. What are some others? I’d love to read more good books about previous great science & engineering orgs and projects. Forming a reading list based on replies.

“Where’s my package right now?” “Is the birthday cake I ordered from the local bakery ready for pickup?” “What’s the status of my car in the body shop?” “Are there any personal training slots available tonight between 7 and 9 at the gym?” They will all need one.

Not having a ChatGPT plugin will be like not having a mobile app or website. Every business will need one. There is a *massive* opportunity to help onboard businesses to AI. Take advantage.

I get a lot of questions on the “why” of embedding search. This is the simple example I like to use to help illustrate the magic of embeddings. Once it clicks, you understand why it’s such a powerful retrieval mechanism for AI systems.

People think OpenAI is done with releases? The next DALL-E is probably right around the corner. And then consider this… GPT-4 has image input.

The point of startups is to solve problems. If ChatGPT Plugins solve problems that startups are working on, then that’s a good thing. Bet on the founders and their energy - they’ll adapt. Overall, the surface area of problems worked on will increase - especially in hard tech.

Do you understand what a marvel GPT-4 is? Anyone in the world can ask a question, pay a few cents, and get a well-reasoned answer from a human with 90th+ percentile intelligence. But it’s not from a human. It’s from a transformer living in a data center via the cloud. Magic.

Would anyone be interested in an AI developer tool guide? I think my workflow is pretty good and I have a lot of insights on the topic. Thoughts? Requests?

The cool thing about using AI to code isn’t just that it writes code for you, but that you actually *learn* as you do it. I’ve learned more in the past 3 months than I learned in the past 3 years. AI is the supercharger for your brain.

A few years ago I was looking for my 1st job and got to stop by the YC office for Work at a Startup. Very fondly remember my selfie I got to take with a big “Make something people want” sign! It’s amazing how everything pretty much boils down to that advice. Simple but true.
