This talk about “incels” has imo shown how badly discussion of sex & sexuality is often handled. In particular, so many people seem to talk about “incels” as if their moral problem is derived from them not having sex. But isn’t that just uncritically repeating what they believe?

and by basing our criticisms of these people on their sex lives - rather than on their cruelty and lack of understanding - we can accidentally propagate harmful expectations ourselves

(there’s also a lot of accidental ableism when we decide to focus on empathy problems and a lack of social skills, as if implying those are innately bad)
