Mine has already been complained about to the university by a think-tank guy who routinely flies the “campus free speech” banner. The whole point is to stop criticism.https://twitter.com/Adam_Crymble/status/1362346445370712064 …

    Ted McCormick added,

    Adam_Crymble @Adam_Crymble
For 5 years I had my social media monitored by university management and was regularly threatened for content they didn't like. So there is a free speech issue in universities but it's not the one the government thinks it is.

Related. In fact, one thing I criticized on here was the decision to invite someone with fraudulent academic credentials to a campus speaking event.https://twitter.com/Real_HistoryGuy/status/1362377726427095046 …

Now the issue is people who aren’t on the invite register. So the War for Academic Freedom is not so much telling people not to uninvite or no platform invitees, but about telling you who to invite in the first place. Mmmm... The heady taste of academic freedom. pic.twitter.com/wD03nFwWel

Yes, let's talk about free speech: I called my college president by his first name, Bob, during union-admin meetings because he called me by my first name. His assistant told me to call him President Knight. I did not do that and the next term I was not assigned classes.

i recall a certain canadian classics scholar who was chased off social media. i won't name names b/c safety. honestly, i'm glad i'm obscure but i have censored myself a lot. i'll never forget the day my chair hauled me in 15 yrs ago this month & had a stack of my emails & posts.
