it sounds like you've been on crappy teams that didn't really know how to use it for its strengths. File sharing? that's for email. Story planning, workflow are way easier, as is team-building when you're not all in the same place. Don't discount the power of a well-used emoji.

I have also worked with teams that were so bad at communication and trust that every possible tool could be perverted to toxicity.

I think Slack is very useful for remote work but find it to be a distraction if everyone iin the same office is using it.
