i prefer not to manage how individual people use slack, but i do think it's important for them to know that there are many ways to use it and set it up, and that yes, the default can be unhelpful.

By training, I mean organizations should have a conservation about whether or not to thread conservations and other high-level things like that.

yeah i don't really believe they should, and i think making -- and enforcing -- rules about threading (lol high-level) is what turns people off from using it. Let people know those are options, yes, and even preferred, but don't make rules like that.

I think most orgs just get a Slack account and basically tell people to have at it and never have discussions about how each person likes to communicate.
