Soooooo... perhaps it's because I waived all hope of hipness when we adopted our first (of four) kids, but I cannot fathom what on EARTH could motivate people to throw a child's birthday party in a bar. I'm genuinely appalled.
Very few other wintertime options in this the greatest city in the world!

This strikes me more as a failure of effort or ingenuity on the part of the parents, rather than a true dearth of options there in the Big Apple.
