Every single tweet about the media ignoring the teacher strike in West Virginia is filled with links from NPR, LAT, NYT, WaPo and others covering the teacher strike in West Virginia

Or perhaps it is in the interest of the bottom line of corporate news to avoid Union inspired activism and focus on the never ending McResistance echo chamber.

You know many national newspapers, including LAT, NYT and WaPo, are unionized, right?

Sure. Doesn't eliminate the focus of ownership on profits. I'd love to see some data to back up your argument that these teachers are getting coverage. Just like I'd love to see the NYTimes editorial bring in even one progressive writer.

Here's a shortcut to the West Virginia tag page at NYT. From there you can find seven stories from the last week about the strike.https://www.nytimes.com/topic/destination/west-virginia …

We both know there's a difference between writing a story and pushing a story. They can write 1000 stories and bury them. Front page all week had nothing, though honestly my beef is more with MSNBC. NYTimes just did their usual less-than-mediocre job. MSNBC was stone cold silent.

We don't, as an industry, write about a story at length and repeatedly over the course of a week, with the aim that no one read it.

I admire your strength here even in the face of people who just basically believe conspiracy theories about media. It’s especially hard when people conflate TV & print, news & opinion.

Luckily, the really really out there ones tend to telegraph their intentions not to believe anything you say, so you can safely ignore them.

I’ve had good luck in the past talking through these things with people. It’s quite rewarding when you help people get over pre-conceived notions!
