It has been an *extraordinarily* busy week for news, and very important news at that. But because you personally did not see something blowing up your feed does not mean it wasn't covered, nor does it mean that other readers didn't see it.

(And a lot of these tweets? They're coming from people *in the damn media* who haven't bothered to google, because we all like to pretend our twitter feeds are a good proxy for what the rest of the media is covering and boy howdy is that another tweetstorm altogether)

A not insubstantial part of this comes from the amount of news coming out of Washington and tired journalists apparently trying to will the chaotic era we're all living through out of existence. https://twitter.com/jason_a_w/status/969982520191143936?s=21 …

"Why isn't anyone covering West Virginia?" (When they are) is also a way of saying "why is Washington dominating the news," when they can't say that because that question itself is absurd.

My mentions are taking on a flavor of "Corporate media [that is often unionized] hates unions and that's why they're not covering the strike [that it is actually covering]!" So, uh, I'm taking my own advice and getting off Twitter for a while. Masterchef Junior is back!

I count 23 stories on the strike in the Washington Post web site, of which nearly all are associated press wirestories (feb 22 to today). I also see 47 stories about Hope Hicks resigning in the same timeframe, of which nearly all are written by WaPost reporters,

I guess all I can do is urge you to google better? WaPo Staff reporter Sarah Larimer alone has six bylines about it. Here's a sampling of hers and others https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2018/03/02/how-striking-west-virginia-teachers-salaries-compare-to-teachers-in-other-states/?utm_term=.88b9b0874225 … https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/school-closures-continue-as-west-virginia-teacher-strike-stretches-on/2018/03/01/d34aeeca-1d71-11e8-9de1-147dd2df3829_story.html … https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/posteverything/wp/2018/02/27/why-i-am-on-strike-in-west-virginia/ … https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/education/wp/2018/02/28/west-virginia-teachers-traded-classrooms-for-picket-lines-heres-how-that-impacted-parents/ … https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/education/wp/2018/02/26/theyre-doing-what-they-think-they-need-to-do-west-virginia-teachers-continue-strike/ …
