I was in college on 9/11. I spent half my adult journalism life at Stars and Stripes," where every day we ran an item titled "US deaths in Afghanistan." My daughter was 18mo old on 9/11, and turns 18yrs next month. She has no interest in mil service. Her brother was born the week we invaded Iraq. I swore then he would never go there because I knew that mistake would cause 20+ more years of war in the region.
