Ok so, I'm spending the waning hours of 2017 reading a book in a quiet bar with a glass of wine. To get here, I stopped at a less quiet bar up the street to get a quick bite to eat. 1/whatevs

Reading in bars is a fav pastime, and this brings back memories. One time, I was doing it w a date and this boorish multimillionaire (who I later learned groped my date’s knee, yuck) was rude to the staff so I demanded he finish his drink, tip them $80 and leave. He did
Well done! There are a handful of places where I just love to chill with some wine and a book, and it all feels so perfectly peaceful.

Same! I am happiest in library pubs where I know the culture encourages reading in public, but any old little quiet place with whiskey and gin will do
