And most other American stations pretty much have set platforms for specific routes, so you already know where to wait.

Really? Interesting. Maybe we've just gone to completely different cities. The only other one I can think where that happened was Chicago, but it was a bit easier because their trains are mostly all right next to one another. I'm west coast though so maybe it's mostly that.
