"But this is the way I was taught!" is not an acceptable defense in any part of modern life EXCEPT the number of spaces after a period.

I was taught that way in my hs practical keyboarding class. 4 years later I dropped it when I started writing my first HTML.

I didn't drop it until twitter cause I needed the extra characters. That's what finally broke the muscle memory.
