You can add location information to your Tweets, such as your city or precise location, from the web and via third-party applications. You always have the option to delete your Tweet location history. Learn more
(I mean, I KNOW why they do. People are busy. Yahoo was once a brand they heard a lot about. People think one news is as good as another.)

I use Google news! But I subscribe to the NYT, WaPo, and The Economist for the good stuff.
