      This is why we have libraries and porous pay models. It's your patriotic duty to be informed, any way you can, not to *pay* to be informed.

      It's often the case that libraries are compelled to record computer and internet access and act as informants against patrons.

      I disagree. If I go to local libraries and use their computers then it is the case that all usage is logged and stored.

      that is absolutely not the default in the US. Many libraries and library associations staunchly defend users' privacy.
