I've heard the same results from other studies at sci conf. It's probably not any one of those things individually...
girls DO feel unwelcome in CS and it has nothing to do with 'only boys like star trek'

actually from what I've heard, one of the biggest issues is girls don't see CS, physics etc as doing social good, why bio&all do.
