Things are showing up in the FB 'trending' box with as few as 1,000 'mentions,' whatever that means. Still doesn't say how many believed it.
For all we know, that stupid story was trending *because it was so stupid and people knew that*. (I doubt it, but WE DO NOT KNOW either way)

So a fake story trending tells us ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about news literacy, just that a few hundred people got curious and clicked.

Anyway, that story says that HS seniors didn't know bin Laden was dead. Which IS terrible, but that's an indictment on education, not news.
