How DID donuts come to symbolize "fat"? We did a story on cops and donuts (http://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/the-long-sweet-love-affair-between-cops-and-doughnuts …) but doesn't speak to weight
it's weird but I can't think of any food that could so universally substitute, facts be damned. Ice cream?
