I like to say I chose to work those crazy hours...That's just trying to make me feel better about it.
I chose it at the time, and it felt normal because everyone else was doing it too, and I wanted to succeed. :/

That's the other thing...Do we do it because everyone else does? What if we didn't follow the crowd? Would we not succeed?

it's a top-down culture thing, I think. I definitely had bosses for whom 12-hour days felt like a requirement.
