So there are maybe 10 people, total, along the mall, walking around. And what I remember the most is the trees.
They've just had two feet of snow dumped on them, and everything is blanketed in silence, so the only sound is the trees. Cracking. Falling.

It was all the old DC Mall trees losing their loosest branches, with the most horror-movie-esque creaking sounds, for hours.

Before this, I was a big fan of the movie version of the Road. Afterward, I couldn't watch it, because it had the same sound. Trees, dying.
