The first thing I always ask is, did it get promoted on the homescreen? Then: Where did the traffic come from, and why? Etc etc

Agreed. More and more I worry that real time access to this data can often harm more than help. All the signals in the world don’t matter if the only way you know how to read them is through a positive lens.
