The elderly man who many New Yorkers know for playing his accordion and violin along the L stops has taken to playing his usual jaunty mix of pop covers and Russian folk in McCarren park. Right now, he’s playing Amazing Grace, and everything else got silent for about 5 seconds.

(He is actually treading on the turf of the polish man who plays his electric keyboard in the park for hours on nice days, and I am waiting for them to either come to blows or join forces before this month is out.)
