(There have been pluses and minuses to the New Orleans rules here. But it did actually surprise me to see something so eminently reasonable happen so quickly at the hands of the government.)

I grew up in PA at a time when you *could not buy a six-pack of beer* and I went to college in Ohio, where “party stores” sold watered down liquor at full price. To see NY just snap its fingers and say “yes, of course you can have a walk-up Old Fashioned” was incredible.
