Can we just stop for a moment and admit to ourselves, if any monkey were to go on the loose with herpes, it would be a Boston monkey.

Not that kind of herpes, lol. Macacine alphaherpesvirus 1, formerly called, among other things, simian herpes B. It's endemic in wild caught Old World macaques, but rare outside of labs & maybe zoos in the US. It can cause severe illness & death in humans. Hence the caution..
