I don't know what to make of the disconnect I see between articles saying the office is dead, we're never going back to downtown; and all the people I'm talking to and hearing from who are going nuts working from home

i've told my partner a number of times we couldn't move for his work because of mine... but i love the idea that now we could maybe have the choice of making where we live and where we work be different (even if they still wind up being the same)
I've spent a few years making my peace with the fact that my desire to not live in new york forever means likely leaving behind a job and an industry that I'm good at and enjoy. I'd like to think it's not a black-and-white choice now.

My refusal to move to/commute to NYC is why I never truly pursued a staff job. I managed to work it out and do the work I want to do but many can’t.
