I know you're basically talking to each other here, but another long-time, early-morning, run-alone runner waiting for exactly this take: I'm trying to follow the rules, and I believe many others--inc. the walker with two dogs stretched over the path--are trying to, too.
That's my overarching thought actually! that everyone is trying their best! (or i like to think they are.) But runners have come in for a singular amount of hate, despite, like everyone else, trying their best.

Totally agree. I've been yelled at on trails I've been running (not PRing!) for 10 years now (and of course I hear Twitter's shouts, too), despite the reality that I'm doing my best and that there are many chaos-contributors out there.
