Anyway, this was a beloved film from my childhood, and rewatching it was a pleasant way to pass some hours as everything else grows more tense and anxious. The same is probably true of most of the films in this thread, regardless of whether Canby liked them or not at the time.

I have to agree about The Exorcist, which would have been a stronger and more coherent story without the heavy makeup FX. As it was you’re wondering why no one is taking her seriously, given how obvious it is that her child has physically transformed into a monster.
