“The decade” is ambiguous. You need to specify a start date. Numbering, as we often do with centuries and millenia, locks down a start date. “The decade” does not.

On the contrary, I think you danced around that particular issue, and failed to make the distinction. Never defined what “the decade” meant. Ambiguous question, therefore confusing answer.
