I would read a 5,000 word article on how software makers decide the appropriate alert tones for different apps--what kind of sound properly conveys 'BREAKING NEWS" vs "Your flight is boarding" vs "I just turned the heat on" &c

BBC did this perfectly. Their breaking alert sound was just their longstanding RC news chime. Everyone had already been trained.
And CNN missed a real opportunity to have James Earl Jones simply say "here's some news."

And no I don't know why autocorrect replaced TV with RC except possibly to convince me to consider living off the grid and play with toy cars?
