I was at @nytimes on 9/11 and we did a lot of groundbreaking video and audio and audio slide show pieces attached to the outstanding reporting on that day and the afternmath and I occasionally get sad that it’s all pretty much gone now.

I mean I can say I worked on the first Times live video show (2000 election) and

It’s because we didn’t plan for archiving and when things like RealTime (yes we streamed a show on RealTime) and Flash became obsolete there was no plan. I really hope there are people thinking about this and how to preserve digital work going forward.

And for the people saying “WOW at The Times?” you don’t know how the digital operation was run like a startup for years and a lot of the people from the paper just hoped it would go away.
