This is not what that survey says:pic.twitter.com/GwT6e5Jllm
the first paragraph of the story adds additional actions to the 60% number, including "working one-on-one or socializing with a woman" along with "mentoring," which is still not entirely what the survey says.pic.twitter.com/nWzVoxEp2V
Here is the writeup on http://leanin.org , and how they phrase it. See how far we're getting from the "60% of men won't mentor a woman" line? https://leanin.org/mentor-her?utm_campaign=mentorher&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter …pic.twitter.com/hVUoIWurG3
That footnote takes us over to Survey Monkey and their writeup here. "A full 60% of male managers say they are uncomfortable engaging in common workplace interactions with women, including mentoring, socializing, and having one-on-one meetings" https://www.surveymonkey.com/curiosity/mentor-her-2019/ …pic.twitter.com/UJTfUZYYpx
Which, yes, IS STUPID AND RIDICULOUS, but it is a far cry from the "60% of male managers are uncomfortable mentoring women."
The actual percentage of men, according to that survey, who said they were uncomfortable mentoring women? 13%. (which, again, IS STILL RIDICULOUS but 13 is not the same as 60)pic.twitter.com/lPrEeF0QKQ
From what I can tell, men were given these options to choose from, and told to select all the options that applied to them. The number that got the highest (aside from none) was socializing alone outside work at a restaurant or hotel. That number was 40%.pic.twitter.com/c8uNqU1kwr
I wonder how would answers from women compare to those of men for this question ...Did they ask women at all?
From they survey page, they asked many of the questions of men and women, but I don't think this was one of them.
