I’m absolutely sure it’s great - but not all promotional streams are equal. Alerting on features very often leads to bounce.

Well... I really wish it were everywhere. Alerting on features often leads to high bounce on the reader side, and it’s a good example of where page views can be really misleading. And there are much better ways to promote features to loyal readers.

It’s important to say too that there are still wide variations in alerting behaviour. The Times is obviously a big player and influential but it’s a choice to alert on features - it’s not that alerts are now defined universally in that way. And I’m very glad about that.
