Momo IS disinformation. It traveled the same paths, relied on the same human behaviors. Think about how it got reported, how powerless folks were to stop the content machine once it kicked in, and imagine that for even more important subjects.

the reporting is SO BAD. also it is very many different types of bad, depending on the article! And a lot of like "on the one hand, some say this is a hoax. On the other hand, how can we know?"

have you thought about calling any of the reporters? I would LOVE to hear their defenses. (wednesday night, a boston fox reporter was tweeting proudly.)

Platforms are another issue, but at the very least, professional journalists should know better than to write stories that spread misinformation.
