Counter counter-point: we've been exposing this quicksand for more than a decade, and now that people have a broad view, they won't dig into the DSPs and SSPs, let alone the DMPs...because they saw a thread. The challenge is that covering ad tech is not as glamorous--for most.
I'm thinking larger than simply ad tech, though. But yes the more mainstream the conversation about how bad industry metrics are, the faster we can all move on to something more useful

i'm just not as sanguine that we're going to move quickly enough. it's great that journalists are finally understanding how their industry works, but finding a different metric of value is tilting at windmills. because of the click, the internet's original sin.
