On a related note, we -- twitter, people who riff on this ecosystem, people who work adjacent to it -- don't do nearly enough thinking about amplification and how a dashed-off headline can hurt whatever you think you're doing with a story.

Most readers are almost always coming to a story a beat or two or 10 after the people who make the news are. In many many cases they are learning about The Thing You Are Debunking from the file in which you debunk it. It makes the windup and the framing really easy to mess up.

Anyway, I don't have an end point here. Just that more and more twitter feels closed off from Not Twitter, and that can be really dangerous, for those of us who like to hang here, and for the kinds of stories that emerge from here.
