Correction: I wrote that ACT for Canada is tied to Richard Spencer, but the website actually appears to reference Jihad Watch’s Robert Spencer. Extremely hateful man, surely, but not a neo-Nazi. Apologies!

Update: Bernier's team tells Post Millennial that he decided not to speak at the rally because he feared it could get violent. The wording makes it sound like he's talking about Antifa, and not the 15 extremist groups that organized today's event

To sum up: Maxime Bernier agreed to speak at an event organized by 15 far-right extremist organizations, told his supporters he would attend, and then at the last minute dropped out with no explanation. Without a condemnation, his stance continues to be endorsement of the event.

Here's
@peoplespca at the anti-migration rally in Toronto, chatting with Free Bird Media (which has recently posted interviews with white nationalist Faith Goldy, neo-Nazi Richard Spencer, and James Sears of the banned Nazi magazine Your Ward News). Remember how Maxime Bernier bailed on that anti-UN rally hosted by 15 fringe extremist groups, including Storm Alliance & La Meute? He didn’t distance himself from them. According to a speaker, Bernier “sent his regrets,” “He knows that he’s got a lot of fans here.”

We did not endorse the protest, we opposed the UN compact on Migration. You're attempt to conflate our stance with extremists who have used the protest to spread hate is sad to see. We should be allies, the PPC and our group has condemned racist organizations.
-
When you share the event page for the protest, organize a delegation, and then post pictures from the protest, then yeah, you've endorsed the protest. You've associated yourselves with them, sorry.

Yes. Let's judge all protests by the wackiest fringes in attendance. What a great idea! All anti-trump protesters are antifa communists. All immigration critics are white supremacists. What a totally healthy political climate we are creating. Hooray!

These aren't the fringes, they are the key organizers of the event.https://www.antihate.ca/large_coalition_of_far_right_anti_muslim_groups_in_ottawa_this_weekend …

I have no idea what the specific demographics are. All I'm saying is that we shouldn't be guilting people by association. There are plenty sensible people, on the right and left. Just because they protest the same policy as radicals, doesn't make them radicals.

Either we respect the rights of all Canadians equally, or we divide up into little factions of self-righteousness and let the country fall apart. Good job fostering division, broski.

It's not right or wrong-it's either/or. I see you have made your choice already :(
