This is a terrible tragedy and awful end to a brutal year. It is a system failure that resulted in irreversible harm to two families. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. We will hold the man who did this accountable. We will support the families of the victims

I agree with this wholeheartedly in the abstract. Clearly the recent policy of letting repeat criminals roam free has been a disaster. Maybe with a different "system" that could work, but then change the system before capriciously releasing repeat criminals.

I agree with that idea in the abstract, too. In this particular instance, a flawed parole system is to blame. I think it won't be possible to first change a system while that system is still causing great damage all around. I do not believe releasing repeat offenders is policy.

Don't do crimes. That's the only change necessary. Otherwise, enjoy 3 hots & a cot until you get it. This isn't difficult.

I know and have helped people like Troy McAllister. Your statements are cliched and simplistic. You don't even know me. I've advocated on behalf of incarcerated people to provide resources and support. I wish we could all at least change our *own* behaviors and show some empathy.

You can have compassion for a murderer? It’s like saying all lives matter.

And every statistic says the people who are now suffering that fate happen to be disproportionately Black or Brown. How do you account for that? Are Black and Brown people inherently evil?

Not so. I'll leave it to you to research how wrong this is.
