I've written and deleted a few times... The knowledge that children as small as mine were taken to die far from their families is crushing enough. The more horrible knowledge is that it was done to provide land/resources/"futures" FOR children like mine.

He wants to sit on my lap while I sew though so that's pretty cute, even at this ungodly hour

My toddler sitting on my lap playing with a pincushion while I sew. The sewing machine is in the background and the back of his head in the foreground.

Before my son was born I asked my parent friends what they missed most from the before times, what I should appreciate most myself. No one said "sleeping in". This tweet brought to you by my 5:50 am Saturday wakeup

Canada has actively suppressed its history. The founding of this country was based on Indigenous genocide. If you weren't taught that, okay. But once you find out even a little bit, it all becomes your responsibility. It's my responsibility.

My theory of relationship compatibility is that you must both fold hands with the same thumb on top, otherwise one of you will feel weird when you hold hands. Does your partner have the same thumb on top as you, or opposite?

So... I think we need to get past the "how do we encourage more minorities in STEM / medicine?" question and get to "how do we transform our institutions to be equitable and just?".

Sign the Petition - No Tax Breaks for Porsche Dealership in

    Undo
  12. May 19

Yes, the tax rebate is silly and there's no way a car dealership will ever be a community hub, but also: I simply do not want a new Porsche dealership in my backyard.

  14. Ok, given the bike shortage I can't really justify sitting on a spare. Would anyone like to BORROW a 3-speed steel-frame Kunstadt Glebe for the summer? Matilda comes with full luggage & would enjoy a spa treatment but needs no actual work of which I am aware.

Just a reminder that we need GUARDS defending our children simply walking, rolling and biking to school. And there is only one reason why these guards are needed and it's not because of people on bikes rolling through stop signs.

Just today a guy (in car) cut in front a whole group of people on bikes (including me) and swore at us for "taking the whole f***ing road" Yes, my guy, we are here because the bike path is too small and the road is so large and so smooooooth, not just to piss you off

"That's great, biking is fun!" I said. He replied "Honestly, it's just faster." Cycling as transportation: fast, efficient, built-in exercise, maybe also fun. Also: folks who cycle, wear your helmet into stores. You never know who might be encouraged :)
