    We are very fortunate that the tragedy on 295 did not result in any fatalities. It is imperative that we understand how this disaster occurred and implement all precautions to ensure that something like this never happens again. Lives could have been lost.

    The District announced plans to subsidize a massive development in Ward 7 with $50 million in public money. It could support the 2 million-square-foot Northeast Heights project, home to a large D.C. agency and (perhaps) a grocer.​
