How a modern slavery victim was left in limbo for five years by Home Office Awais's case is shocking, but he is one of many who despite being eligible for protection in the UK face an uphill battle to get it 🎥

The current deadline to apply for Status is 30 June 2021. Government is already funding charities (incl. Law Centres) to help vulnerable citizens apply. Why cut off funding next month rather than continue it at least until the deadline?

It would be an absolute scandal if funding for charities who help more vulnerable/at risk EU/EEA & Swiss citizens to secure Settled Status lost Home Office funding now. The next 17 months are crucial to ensure that no one is left behind.

Getting emails from EUSS applicants (mainly non-EU spouses) who have been waiting months on their applications, leaving them unable to travel to e.g. visit very sick relatives. They're begging me to write about their cases bc they have "no other option". This scheme is a mess.

This is extremely concerning if true. Just this week was raising the problems with placing people detained under immigration powers in prisons: the lack of access to legal advice & communication leaves them unable to fight erroneous deportation orders. Smart move.
