This SMCCCD Board of Trustees meeting is...something. One trustee moves to approve *as long as staff does what they say*...say what? These trustees forget they set policy, not direct staff what to do and how to do it. Total amateur hour and clown show.
Hmmm. I just had a bizarre experience, involving a global news organisation and a trillion dollar corporation. (I got caught in the middle, so... owch.) It’s not the sort of experience the people involved usually talk about in public… so I think I’ll talk about it in public. 🧵

Back pedal and sugar coat it all you want, everyone and the news media have already called out your embarrassing power grab for what it is. Way to lose legitimacy at your first day on the job. mercurynews.com/2022/12/06/san

I have a simple principle. I want to use the most robust democratic process tomorrow at 6pm to first seat all 5 San Mateo Council Members, and then select our leaders. Then I will proudly vote for Council Member Amourence Lee to be our next Mayor. us02web.zoom.us/j/84628042827?.

The idea that fiduciary responsibility means only getting money for the shareholders of the moment and not protecting the integrity of the company itself, the employees, or assessing the harm to democracy of a sale, is a failure of the business ethical regime.

What can you do? 1. Mutual aid - donate to orgs that offer support for women seeking abortion esp those who need to travel to another state. 2. Make sure the ppl especially young ppl around you know that you are available to help confidentially if they need abortion care.

As we listen to the debate tonight, the alternatives become very clear: Either we can have gunmen roaming free and the children locked up like jailed felons ... Or we can impose some restrictions on the guns and let the children enjoy the air and sun Your values. Your choice.

This ⁦⁩ headline is misleading. The article is about white working-class voters. Not all working-class voters. Black and brown working-class voters overwhelmingly vote Democratic. That tells you it’s not about working-class issues. It’s about race.

How did US intelligence get it right? They did their jobs and the political consumers didn’t corrupt the findings for private financial benefit or grandiose ideas of re-engineering the region.

"... this is an important moment for the US intelligence community". The sentiment is true, yes. Western intelligence has got so much right. But it's not as if this is the only intelligence success in recent years. cnn.com/2022/02/26/pol
