A bit shy, and a bit horrified, as if I have wandered out in public without a mask on. My first academic paper based on my almost-there-almost-there-almost-effing-there dissertation. About machine learning, AVs, bodies, automation &the ironies of autonomy

"What is at stake with present-day AI is not a robot invasion, but which concepts of intelligence get prioritized, and how they relate to and frame the world at large." The history of AI's visual metaphors by in is 🙌🙌

    1. Clubhouse is recording your audio 2. You can't delete information other people share about you. 3. You can't just delete your account. 4. They can share your personal information without notifying you. 5. Clubhouse is tracking you. Fun times!

Also. I don't know who does or does not need to hear this, but MC Hammer is on CH in NFT rooms. (This is my first and last tweet about NFTs which, I learn from social media, I am supposed to hate. )

I am definitely curious about the platform, and voice is so intimate and revealing. What ppl say about Twitter v CH in India is interesting. Me, I'm still talking about condiments (this week: mango-based) and fun stuff 😃 Pls find me if you're there: auntyoccident

What the founders do like to talk about is how they "don't sell your data to third parties" LOLLL but it's also interesting how this has hit home in SV, maybe?

I see awareness of trolls for sure but have no idea how this works, what it means to report someone and what happens next. There will be a lot to unpack and figure out. I really do not think they have thought about it and if they have, they certainly don't amplify these concerns

I'm nervous about the misinfo, the security. And how and when this is going to explode. (In India - when it goes Android)

SorryNotSorry for CH tweets but CH India is absolutely riveting from a research perspective but also bc I miss home. There is so much going on: feelings abt social media regulation, living under M, the M supporting Uncle types, the absolute made-up hateful nonsense.

Some CH rooms are compelling. It's like early blogging but voice; many young Indians(+diaspora) talking about mental health, grief, protests, arrests, reading their poetry for the first time after years of silence. In another room, someone talks about death of their twin. Phew.

Trying to decide if I should 'attend' FAccT or not. Will there be a clubhouse backchannel/review of papers, Twitter threads etc.

I just hosted my first CH (at auntyoccident ) about 'Condimentos', 'Condiments we know and love', and realised that 'chilis of the world' and 'curry leaf mayo' and 'red, dusty, textured spice mixes' live rent free in my head so I can talk for at least 30 mins nonstop abt this

Hearts and high fives to this thread. I may have lost the best years of my life to giving and being given RIGHTS and TRAININGS to let THE DONORS know that we have been EMPOWERED; if you don't believe me, check out my slick LOGFRAMES.

End of Internet seems near in India with the new intermediary liability rules. On that note, RIP Internet with this evening, and some Infinite Detail, 7:30 pm -

Ok listen, I am not going to pay for your tweets. I would much rather just call up people who are friends here and chat with them for an hour every six months to catch up. I would pay for a subscription to this site, though, if it meant better content moderation for all users

Great job in Berlin with an excellent organisation; for project manager types: "Support investigators, advocates, media reporters, and journalists in their efforts to document human rights violations in Syria and worldwide"

Statisticians and/or social scientists in/of India: where can I find the official, current caste register or list? I see a lot of 'SC/ST list Odisha' and 'OBC Karnataka list' and similar; but is there a centralised list? I am struggling to find it. TIA!
