Sweetie people stole things before Prop 47. It is still a crime. Just not a felony if worth less than $950. Before Prop 47 it had to be over $450. My Price is Right skills tell me this is way under in either scenario. So try again.

We should really lay into you. You are probably a Public Defender too with no real prosecutorial skills. A lot of nerve mocking the residents and non residents (tourist) who have been victims of Prop 47.

Not trying to mock at all. Trying to clarify some very common misunderstanding about Prop 47. It is often blamed for things inaccurately. Theft is still a crime. That has not changed. Only the level of punishment changed.

I would focus on the increase of the type of crime. Over 30,000 smash and grabs in a city that is 7x7. You are right theft is still a crime but it is decriminalized. The same perpetrators doing the same crime over and over again without fear of consequences.

if by smash & grabs you mean auto burglaries, that is still a felony/was not changed by 47. After a change in leadership at SFPD these crimes dropped significantly. But before then I agree, they weren’t taken seriously.
