I currently have a Claim the Firstborn over an Abrade in my UR Ensoul sideboard because it's a 1-mana Threaten. Twitter, ground me.

l'appel du vide is such an interesting phenomenon. I hear that little voice whispering that T3feri decks are on a huge downswing and that I could register UR Emerge to farm the hyper-aggro and midrange decks.

Tried something close to this list, and WOW it is good. It’s like if the Sultai Delirium deck had a combo kill instead of Nic Fit staples. As told me, Grisly Salvage is indeed a great way of digging through your 5 card library to grab and play a Thassa’s Oracle.

I wrote about my experience at SCG Richmond this weekend. I have included some thoughts I have had about discrimination in Magic for a very long time and I recommend you read it to gain a new perspective on these issues

As an addendum to deck selection, I understand my own shortcomings. The BUG Delirium / Inverter decks are almost certainly the best decks in Pioneer, but I'm not considering them. I know I will do better with Ensoul because the deck more closely complements my skill set. (6/6)

Deck selection: When I focus on a format, I have a great understanding of which decks are good, and how to build a deck to beat the expected field. While I'm not the best technical player, I am confident that my final build of a deck is better than almost everyone else's. (5/6)

Preparation: For a large tournament, I prepare well. I have everything I need, and have heavily tested & agonized over my deck list, including confirmation that my deck & sideboard map correctly vs the expected field. My weakness here is anxiety, but that's in mental. (4/6)

Adaptability: My intuitive skill is comparatively good in fresh situations. The less defined a format is, the better I am likely to perform. I'm also good at keeping up with a shifting format or metagame, and understanding how to apply trends in the data. (3/6)

Technical play: I'm good enough to win games I had no business winning, and bad enough to lose games I had no business losing. I'm disproportionately bad at decks like 4c Snowko compared to decks like Delver, Steel Stompy, or Hogaak, which probably means poor fundamentals. (2/6)

Qualitative self-evaluation: Mental game: I'm a wreck. Anxiety consumes me to the point where you'd think the tournament were actually a bar exam. I'm also brutally hard on myself when I make a mistake and recognize it to be so. (1/6)

I spent so long working on those damn win rate spreadsheets that I missed out on like 10 hours of testing time. Twitter, is Lightning Strike good in UR Ensoul?

I and the rest of the Magic community owe a lot to . His success inspired me to abandon secrecy and embrace working publicly, something I always wanted, but was afraid to do. This movement away from secrecy toward community is great for mtg. Love to see him win.

By the way, my plan is to combine the two data sets and add confidence intervals once the remaining swiss rounds from Nagoya are in.

Adding onto 's work here (data collection is the hard bit and don't let anyone tell you different), here's a little stats. Think of these as error bars. Based on today's results, it's a 2.5% shot that the deck is worse than the left column/better than the right, etc.
