If Margaret had a structure editor, she'd be holding something more graspable than a silly ol' stack of paper!
i mean, photo opworthiness counts when weighing techs. i pang a bit at propping up screenspace flatspansionism. when i/o embodies enough we might rerealize the stack as we reify its structure;
ah to clarify I'm suggesting some physicalization of a structure editor, like actual legos or pipes or something. fun though less compact!
yeah I mean that's the dream. though the construction toy analogue only seems a clear fit for the incremental, additive aspects of editing? copying and composite refactoring are harder. perhaps we need more ontologically diverse meta-materials, ala tlon, uqbar, orbis tertius
hahaha I love these ficciones name-drops, did you read it recently?
ha no it's been a while, but it's for sure a personal strange attractor; after yesterday's reply a library of babel bot autotweeted me, and i was curious if a tlonbot could be coaxed out of the woodwork to hronir-ize the last one. sadly no bites yet

I wonder if anyone's collected a list of recommended fictions for future of computing thinking. I'm less interested in Snowcrash/Illustrated Primer and the more computer-orthogonal and magic oriented. cc @stevekrouse?

Max Krieger added,
Maybe fictions are too personal and taste-specific (like music and TV). But I like the idea of _recommendations_ existing, especially on the Borges length -- a short story is pretty close in length to a @michael_nielsen essay
