The main question i still get asked is “how do I move up the guild ladder”, requires too much context to answer generally but does make me wonder. It’s surprising no one has committed to making a real kick-ass guild recruitment/finder tool.
There is a massive market for it if done right and it’s probably the last thing that wow desperately needs. Right now there are a few of them but none seem to stand out and be the “go-to” tool. Hopefully someone is working on this.

Another thought may be there is no real metric on determining a good player as logs are extremely misleading, and that is why nothing like this has ever happened.

I mean I think part of the problem from a WoW implementation standpoint is there's no one parameter it can look at and go "this person is good enough for this guild," particularly when people can pay for carries and increase their ilvl/AotC/CE via that instead of progression.
However, it would be kickass if the guild app form was more in-depth and basically more akin to a resume so that you got more info about whether you even wanted to trial a given person or not.
Sounds like a great time to develop “Limit Raid List”. Works like Craigslist or Monster for recruiting, can enter a singular resume and opt into alerts for raid spots fitting your preference. Overall raid quality would spike knowing it’s easy to replace and fill spots.
As someone playing since BC, I feel for new players. The amount of guilds has increased so much and there’s so much variety of seriousness. Not only that but beginning of expac shooting star guilds that implode insta. We almost need better categories for type of guilds.
So much this! I started playing in mop and sort of fell into a guild by luck. When i returned in BFA, i had an awful time working out what "casual raid" or "semi hard core" meant to different people. Also "mature"
Do people not just use the WoW forums? I’ve been in multiple guilds between 100-1500 world over my WoW career and i’ve found them all through the WoW forums.
