I firmly believe that if hardcore players controlled decisions for this game it would die within 6 months. Factions deleted. Levelling removed. Complete class and spec homogenization. Vanity objects scrapped. World turned into all instances to have more dungeon and raid content.
Example: The hardcore PvP community demanded gear be removed from power in Legion to balance Arenas better so player skill was the only variable outside class balance, making tuning far easier. It killed the PvP scene within a month. Only now is it finally reviving.
